About the project
An interactive chord diagram which communicates patterns in the relationships between the most current film genres and their popularity in an aesthetic and informative visualisation. The visualisation is based off a dataset of the top 50 all-time films sourced from the Screen Australia website, and the genre information is from IMDb.com. The aim of this visualization is to evoke thought about why certain combinations of genres work and others don’t, and why particular genre relationships are most popular.
